Hands Up

Our Story

Literati Arts was founded by Black care leaver and poet, Ty'rone Haughton.

Poetry is the thing that guided Ty'rone during his time in care and the thing that has helped him process since leaving.

It was imperative to Ty'rone that he share his gifts and the light that has guided him with others.

Literati Arts is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which means all of the profits we make go back into our community. This helps us deliver more free and low cost projects and events.

All the projects we run with looked after children and care leavers are free of cost and of the highest quality.

All of our poetry workshops are free and for the community.

Our poetry events are always extremely low cost and we always offer concessions. It is a part of our ethos to provide affordable and accessible arts and literary provisions to our city of Leicester. Our work is funded by local authorities and public funding and we are a small but mighty team of two, working hard to make exciting things happen.

We accept donations to help us put on more events and serve our communities as best we can. These donations can go towards our funding applications as match funding and help with the general organisational running costs.

If you are in a position where you can make a donation and would like to show your support for the work we do, please follow the link to our Ko-fi page here
